"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm." Ephesians 6:10-13 (ESV)
We live in a very complex world that demands Christians to firmly stand on the Word of God all of the time. Our culture is in a very difficult place because far too few of us who claim to be Christians stand firmly entrenched in Scripture.
We must first understand that all issues of life must be understood from the perspective of Scripture. For it is here that we are able to grasp the fact that all problems come from the forces of evil in our world and that the solution to each of them come from the Lord…the Author and the Rock of our faith.
This day, as you enter your day, make certain that you have put on the whole armor of God “that you may be able to withstand in the evil day”. You cannot walk nor stand without dressing your spiritual self in Him. Have you ever watched a football game and wondered what it would be like for one player to think that he could be the only participant without pads? SUICIDE.
So it is with Christians. We would be committing spiritual suicide if we thought for a moment that any one of us could enter life without the Christ and survive. God’s Word has given us all sorts of directives about how to survive in a world that is on a slippery slope to spiritual destruction.
I am not a pessimist by any stretch, but the reality is that since Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden things have not been real good. Read the book and you will find that to be true. However, God has given us all sorts of really good ideas on how to conquer evil in our time. Seems to me that it makes good spiritual sense to follow the course that He has set for us…….
